Reshmonu in SJI

Heya! Saw this new Reshmonu video clip on MTV and looked for it online and here it is! If you watch carefully, when the 2 Chinese girls in red cheong sam are dancing, you watch the background closely and.... you will see...

St John's Institution!! My alma mater, the proud white and red pillars that keep the eagle soaring up in the skies! Haha... no wonder we were so curious why Reshmonu turned up at our school a couple of times. hehe.

hanging up the pride

it's time.

i've wondered how it feels when it does. i no longer wonder. i know.

it's the pain of growing older, it's the regret of words unsaid or actions untaken. it's the longing for old times to return.

you wish time would turn back and bring you back to that magical period, when it was all you enjoyed and all you looked forward to.

the feeling of being an important figure. the respect and admiration showered on you. the feeling of knowing that you're Making A Difference.

the knowledge that you're helping people grow and learn. the understanding that your actions will determine their future. the responsibility of it all. the burden, the longed for burden. the cross to carry.

i never asked for my cross to be shortened. to be lighter. i took it and held it against my back with pride and gratitude for the opportunity. i was glad i took the challenge.

i was rewarded not by medals or money. i am rewarded by the success of those under my wing. i am rewarded by the knowledge and skills learnt by them while under my tutelage. i am rewarded knowing that i helped them GROW.

and then all of a sudden, it's over. the senior position, the guiding, the helping, it all stopped. it was time for the next generation to take over. tears of blood flowed freely from my heart.

like dettol on an open wound, it stung like hell but it was for the greater good. that magical time could never come again. but still, i am grateful that i had it in the first place.

i feel aged, as if the world caught up with me and threw me upon the cold marble floor. the storm followed the rain, and i am caught with no shelter and no roof over my head.

and then the rain stopped as i realised that YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE AND NOT WHO PEOPLE SAY YOU ARE. i remain respected, i remain admired to some extent, and i remain in the memories of the young ones as the one who helped them through difficult times and lent a helping hand or shoulder to cry on. i am still me, without the position, but still with the virtues it has blessed me with. i will carry on.

i feel old. soon, i will start anew. butterflies and hurricanes, moths and tornadoes, even if i go insane, i'll still go where the wind blows.
it's time.

KIWANIS YOUTH CAMP 2007

I went for Paintball with me dad on sunday, n took d opportunity to send him showers upon showers of questions regarding the upcoming KIWANIS YOUTH CAMP 2007, tentatively held on 13-16, but apparently the date's gonna be changed AGAIN soon, so stay tuned aite? right, i managed to find out that the organizers (my dad and his team) are looking at a camp in raub, pahang. among the activities lined up for the 4 days are:

white water rafting
high ropes
flying fox (longest in malaysia, spans over a HUGE lake)
raft building (this time we're gonna go down a RIVER not a stagnant POND like kyc06)
obstacle course
abseiling
campfire

with only 4 days of camp, there's a very tight schedule. therefore, to stuff in all these great great activities, indoor lessons are kept to a minimum. overall, i think we'll be having only about 3 or 4 indoor lessons during the whole camp. that's a great thing aite!! i mean, indoor is okay but not the whole camp like kyc06 lah. sure, that's where we learn stuff in theory and all, but then again squeezing 200 hormone driven teenagers in a small hall for too long is seriously NOT A GOOD IDEA. so this time around, we'll be having a camp. a REAL camp, the REAL DEAL. be there or be square! be there and be round like me! haha... well, not reli la, coz lotsa outdoor mah.

note: white water rafting and building raft are TWO SEPERATE ACTIVITIES. white water rafting is where they give u a ready made raft, usually those inflated ones if im not mistaken, and ure supposed to steer ur raft down rapids and mini waterfalls and try not to capsize along the way. in building rafts, we are given materials like tyres, wood, and ropes to MAKE our own rafts and THEN sail down a river. for this one, u better hope u make ur raft properly. haha... last year in a stagnant pond pun boleh pecah, so... be careful!

and there's talk about a word game that's something to do with eating nasi lemak with ayam goreng tambah telur goreng and teh o ais limau or something lidat.

all this and more! for more information, log on to this website every fortnight or so and hopefully i get more 'bocor' from my dad. haha... our beloved ms. Heidi Olivia Tan has been confirmed to be the lead facilitator again this time around. there'll be the usual pre-selected student facilitators as well.

until more leaks, here's a kyc fanatic signing off! pro utilitate hominum et fide et labore.

A little something for the nerves

A little something mum emailed me. It's seriously damn funny wei. That's if you keep up with world events larh. Haha... It's good la wei... iRack and iRan. Haha...

beat lynnett fair and square at bowling... the top one is her, B standing for BABI and the bottom B is me for BANANA. 138 - 76. hahaha...

nothing like a decent sing out to release tension. spent 3 hours at karaoke singing til our throats got hoarse (that's on top of the sore throat lyn already had)...

woohoo! then after dat since lyn wanted to go home dy, so after dinner at sushi king i went to watch bourne ultimatum by myself. yes, by myself. alone. me. one ticket, please. I. ming wai. only. just me. yes, by myself.

nostalgia

Hey all! I was looking thru my friends' blogs when they reminded me of Kiwanis Youth Camp 2006. KYC06 was to be honest not the best of the KYC's i've attended in terms of the programmes and stuff, but they're the best bunch of ppl i've met! so here, here are a few too many photos i got from the cd. I'll explain on the way, not to worry...
This is on the first day, shortly after we arrived where we played this game and the 5 of us couldn't keep up (on purpose?) and we became 'sharks'. that's me squeezed between the gila Ethan and Sabrina.

I became the spokesman for my group. We're called the Green Hot Chilli Peppers coz they gave us a Green flag. Naturally when they asked us to do a presentation on our ideal Key Leader, we chose the only green thing there. Shrek.

During the obstacle course. My group has (from left) me, melody, *forgot*, jasmynn, jun juan, annabelle, sabrina, brian and the brave, brave syahidah.

"hey guys! i think i actually CAN make it..." *splash*. (note: that's NOT me)

the trick of this game is not laughing. that way everyone will start laughing and the whole worm thingy will start shaking and bouncing like mad. well, there HAD to be SOMEONE connecting the females to the males, so... not that i VOLUNTEERED, some people set me up. sheesh.

my usual lepak spot during lessons and talks. sometimes it's my sleeping area too. hehe...
(btw sab... they're called leg hair. never see b4? xp )

did some free endorsement for excel. sheesh.. should have demanded for pay.

my team's raft. DON'T ask y it's tilted that way. we all already know the answer to that.

spot my girl! sze min's all wet coz their's fell apart in the middle of the pond. haha...

(btw she's the 1st from the left)

doin my spokesman job. we called our ideal hometown 'peppertown'.

i was on the panel of judges for a debate on some moral issues.

it's supposed to be mother teresa. damn creepy tho. it's actually a guy from chonghwa, tee. brr.

team pepper! green hot chilli peppers rocked kyc06 k!

my teammates chose me as their best member or somethin lidat. got a special green tee for that. haha... btw, on my right (your left) is my girl. back then we didn't really know each other... it all started here. haha...

part of the group photo. can spot me? btw i tink the 1st row, 1st from left girl, yun min i tink that's her name. i tink she's cute. haha... altho i feel old compared to most of the ppl there, including her n sab, so im more like a big bro figure i guess.

well, that certainly brought back lots of memories. good memories. memories of times that were pure joy and fun and pleasure just being surrounded by friends (and hotties) for 4 spectacular days. i'll be going again this year. it's 13-17 december. wanna go? just say the word (type in cbox) and i'll gif u da info. nothing's been posted online just yet anyway, so i can't tell u much yet. oh well... back to studying for me...
lvl 38!!

and afternoon surrounded by rendang, music, and hotties

i've been relaxing (have i told u abt d relax singh joke?) over d weekend saturating my brain with nothingness and here comes an sms from nabilah, my dear old buddy over from mgs asking me over to her place for raya. sure man! im so free coz no one asked me out...
newayz, i go over there today and realise: im the only chinese guy there. whoa! sure, there are like a few other guys there but i only noe 2 of em, adam and amirul from vi. soh and kheng lam were supposed to be invited but due to some techincal error and communication breakdown they weren't. neways, i went with ru and ylin. after a few ketupats with rendang and lotsa kuih, we went to lepak at her room instead. and there we found treasure: guitars! since i only play bass, i played mostly bass lah. d'oh!
after lotsa singing and "you noe this one...?" and "come i play you sing" and where amirul got kinda comfortable with ylin, we left around evening. but not before i grab the opportunity to take a few photos with some hot chickas! haha... here they are all dressed up to kill.

me n the one who made it all possible: nabilah!

the ever gorgeus ru! *phewwitt!*

ylin! surprised! huh??!

oklah, at least i look ok in this one.

ahhh... so comfy. not reli la, i was tryin nt to put too much weight on both of dem (hard to do u noe...) but anyway... i get to hang out with these chickas! you...? want their phone numbers just write in me cbox. haha... subject to approval. xp

so that's it! a monday afternoon made so much more interesting with ketupats and guitars and duit raya. haha... remember remember the 5th of november... when duckie becomes elligible to vote. =)

Note: Congratulations to Malaysia's first astronaut. Dr.Sheikh or something. What the heck, it didn't really matter which of the 2 flers took off, they're both Johannians anyway. =)

A while ago I heard a joke about space travelling. When Americans first entered space, they called their space travellers "astronauts". When Russians sent their men, they were called "cosmonauts". When Malaysia talks about space travel, we ask... "Can or not?" Well, now that we can, we've changed his title to "space participant" which is short for "I'm just a tourist who got sponsored by my government so that they can spend more money on useless stuff instead of funding education or emergency services which suck so much in my country that it take an hour for an ambulance to arrive (1 hour 30 minutes if they decide to go minum first) and by the time they arrive the fler ady die, and even then I'm not anybody useful to the team but I'm just tagging along so that I can enter the ever popular Malaysia Book of Records which has a new entry every hour of every day, so at least my descendants can say that I 'spaced out' and the government paid for it."

On the topic of kutuking msia, here's another joke. The British dug 2000m into the ground and found copper wiring. They therefore concluded that 2000 years ago they already had telephones. The Germans, not wanting to be left out, dug 3000m into the ground and found fibre optic cables. They therefore concluded that 3000 years ago they already had optic wire technology. Some damn intelligent fler in Malaysia decided to dig 5000m under a sawah padi and found nothing. He concluded that 5000 years ago, we already had wireless techonology. Smart eh?

Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from such blogs as "our side of the sun" and "twinkle twinkle little star". D'oh! - hooked on the yellow family called Simpsons. No, not the dumb blonde who was briefly married to Nick Lachey, it's the one with the fat, bald, beer-absorbing obnoxious father, the tall haired, OCD mother, the up to no good son, the brainy nerdy daughter and the *squeecko squeecko* baby.

Btw, thanks for all your votes, even though someone thinks I'd get bad results. Anyways, to those who don't think so, thanks.

MISSING

Have you seen this lady? We of the Form 5 in SJI miss her dearly. She hasn't come to school since the first trials ended a month ago. Form 5 is very quiet (figuratively) and lonely without her motherly presence in our halls and classes. If any of you have seen her lately, do please send her our love and tell her we need her back. For good.

angeluss, nebula, and sharp of the stonity family in carracci server wish you happy levelling in granado espada!
